Artemisio Romero y Carver

on Art as a Tool of Rresistance

Environmental Racism is not an unusual occurrence for many communities throughout New Mexico, where Arte grew up and began his journey as a youth activist and poet. However more than anything else, Arte is an organizer who is actively combating injustice and exploitation.

Using an organizer perspective, Arte explains why we cannot stop at dealing with the outcomes of racism, but must treat the conceptual sources of violence by confronting ideologies like white supremacy. Arte addresses why this activism cannot wait, with only a short amount of time to address climate change.
